Wow- thanks to all of the people who already answered- the advice so far has been great- I thought that it might help to be a bit more specific by adding that they told me not to contact him in ANY form, not just via phone… my parents think that our friendship is great and they are only worried that his family could get me into trouble. His family is very unreasonable (from all that I know and what he has told me), and they definitely would not be persuaded by any meeting with either me or my parents. They probably wouldn’t even hear that part of the proposal because they’d be too angry to know that we have been talking even after they told us not to. Thanks again!
