Steven Carlson asked:

There are several ways in which you can communicate with your divorce lawyer, but some methods may be more effective than others. When a marriage dissolves there are several important topics that need to be discussed and sorted out such as child custody and visitation, division of property, and support. Communicating effectively with your attorney about such issues will help your lawyer properly gather the information he/she needs to put your case together and can reduce your attorney fees at the same time.

In-Person

Meeting with your attorney in-person when there is an extensive amount of material to go through is often a wise choice. When you meet with an attorney face-to-face there is less chance for distraction and it is more likely you will have the attorney’s undivided attention. Any material you or your attorney may have can be reviewed and any questions can be addressed. Each party will have an equal opportunity to discuss and cover any important details. Additionally, the amount of time spent in an in-person meeting is traceable and should be reflected accurately on your attorney bill.

E-mail

Assuming your attorney checks his/her e-mail regularly, email communications with your attorney can be very effective, especially if a response is not needed immediately or an attachment needs to be sent. Unlike faxes, there is usually no charge to receive an e-mail. However, there will be a cost for your attorney to review and respond to your e-mail. Therefore, it is extremely important to keep your e-mail concise and to the point. This is often a difficult adjustment for those who have a tendency to write wordy e-mails. Further, depending on how savvy your attorney is with technology, he/she may spend more time in an e-mail communication than if the message were communicated via phone or fax. Further, the amount of time an attorney actually spends in an e-mail communication is virtually untraceable, so you will want to closely monitor your bill to make sure the charges are reasonable.

Telephone

One of the most common forms of communication you may have with your attorney may be via telephone. Telephone communications can be very effective, especially when you or your attorney have a quick question. Such communication is quick and timely. Additionally, the time spent on the telephone is the most traceable form of communication. The time spent on the phone may be recorded on your phone bill and should be reflected accurately on your attorney bill. However, problems may arise when more than a couple questions need to be covered. Long telephone calls can be subject to distractions and retaining large amounts of information can become an issue.

Fax

Communications with your attorney via fax can be very useful. For example, when a lengthy document needs to be reviewed or if your signature is required on a document (and a faxed copy of your signature is acceptable), faxes can save you an unnecessary trip to your attorney’s office or the wait time associated with mailings. Like the postage fee for a mailing, there may be a cost associated with the fax, such as the call charge or the time a person in your attorney’s office had to stand in front of the fax to send or receive documents.

Mailing

Communications with your attorney via mail can be very effective when a reviewing of a particular document is not extremely urgent. Additionally, any serious issues or requests you may need to make upon your attorney may be best done in writing. Mailings are a common way attorney’s keep their client informed or on copy of all filings and communications with opposing counsel. Mailings are easy to organize and typically easy to manage.

There are several ways in which you can communicate with your divorce lawyer and choosing the right method can significantly enhance your communication with him/her. When a marriage dissolves there are several important topics that need to be discussed and sorted out such as child custody and visitation, division of property, and support. Communicating effectively with your attorney about such issues will help your lawyer properly gather the information he/she needs to put your case together and can reduce your attorney fees at the same time.

Hi all!

This is my first question so be gentle;-) I am considering taking an attorney recruiter position with a legal staffing company and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what an “average” first year recruiter can expect to make in a large urban area. The compensation involves a draw against future commission, 45% of placement fee. Knowing what I know about attorney compensation where I live it seems that I wouldn’t have to do all that many placements to exceed six figures so there must be a catch here.

Jimmy Roos asked:

If you need a personal injury attorney it is best to start looking at the attorneys in the state where you are. However, sometimes it might happen that you are on a gambling holiday in Las Vegas and find yourself in an accident of some sort.

In that case it would make more sense to hire a Nevada personal injury attorney as they would be more well versed in the laws of Nevada and can therefore arguably provide a better service. So this is probably how you should think when looking for a personal injury attorney.

A Nevada personal injury attorney should also be better placed to offer the best advice in terms of how the case should go. Another benefit is that Nevada personal injury attorneys offer free consultation and advice. This they do to find out if you indeed have a valid personal injury case. Through this process the attorney will tell you how much you’ll be able to get in terms of compensation.

A Nevada personal injury attorney will do his best not give you false hope by being as realistic as possible.

A Nevada personal injury attorney will furthermore assist you in examining your legal rights and in proceeding with a claim. Irrespective of the nature of your personal injury, you can rest assured that a Nevada personal injury attorney will be available to offer you professional advice and direction for your claim.

The one thing you have to make sure of is that just like in any profession there may be unscrupulous people who just want to take your money. Hence you should make sure that the Nevada personal injury attorney you deal with is not fraudulent. Do a bit of research to find out if they are who they say they are and if they’ve got a good legal record. The last thing you want is to get mixed up with someone who’ll give you more grief.

How do I remove judgments myself without an attorney from the court house after filing bankruptcy?
I filed bankruptcy after having surgery. The judgements are still on my court records. My attorney said he could remove them but it would cost $50.00 for each one. I cant afford to pay $50.00 for each one. What I was wondering is if I could do it myself? If I can, can someone please tell me how. Thank you

Patricia Woloch asked:

Mesothelioma is a silent intruder that destroys the mesothelium – the protective covering so necessary for buffering and lubricating our precious organs. Victims of this horrendous disease may not be aware that they have contracted it for 20 to 50 years after exposure. By then, the disease may have progressed to later stages that are more difficult to treat.

Many manufacturers, distributors, and installers of asbestos related products used this mineral fiber in numerous products such as:

· vinyl floor tiles

· roofing tars

· gaskets

· caulk

· adhesives

· clutch plates

· stage curtains

· fire blankets

· interior fire doors

· thermal pipe insulation.

Although it was a panacea in the manufacturing industry for years, in the early 20th century, our government determined that the fibers were highly toxic. Unfortunately, the manufacturers and other related companies weighed this risk against their profit and determined that their gain was more important than your life.

Finding the Attorney that is Right for You

Literally hundreds of thousands of people have been impacted by this disease. According to the RAND Corporation, over 730,000 claimants have filed suit. Many law suits are still being filed as a result of mesothelioma. If you or a loved one suffer from this malignant disease, know your rights. Choose to file a claim with an attorney that can support and guide you through the process and get you the settlement you deserve. Some of the things to consider are:

· Is mesothelioma your attorney’s specialty?

· How much experience do they have?

· How many cases has your attorney represented?

· Of the cases represented, how many were won?

· What were the dollar amounts of each settlement?

· Will your attorney aggressively pursue your claim?

· Do they have the resources necessary to represent you?

In addition to the legal considerations, how well does your attorney know this disease? Yes, it is a medical question, but an attorney that specializes in mesothelioma should know this disease inside out. Not only will it help with your case, but the attorney that knows this disease has the added advantage of compassion and understanding.

· The right attorney will know what you and your loved ones are dealing with.

· The right attorney understands the nature and stages of this disease.

· The right attorney understands the impact on the entire family.

· The right attorney provides personal attention for each client.

· The right attorney knows and empathizes with your anger and frustration toward an industry that robbed you of your health.

Matt Kiley can answer yes to any of your considerations for the right mesothelioma attorney. He has your best interest at hands and wants to get you the results you deserve.

Groshan Fabiola asked:

If you or a family member have been injured in Florida, injury attorney consultation is a good idea to determine if you are entitled to damages and to protect your rights. Damages which you may be entitled to include wage loss, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, lost earning capacity and past and future medical expenses related to your Florida injury. Attorney assistance can be provided by a Florida injury lawyer with expertise in the areas of negligence, premises liability, insurance law and the law on damages. For those interested in claiming compensation for personal injury in Florida, injury lawyer investigators and experts will be hired on your behalf to take witness statements and to determine who was at fault.

Considerations when hiring a Florida injury lawyer are many. First, when insurance companies evaluate your Florida injury, lawyer teams hired by the insurance company will be advising the insurance adjuster handling your claim how to minimize insurance company exposure even if you were not at fault. A Florida injury attorney can assist you with filling out applications for medical benefits, deal with the insurance adjuster and obtain the police report that is required to be filed if there is a reported Florida injury. Attorney skill is necessary to prepare a demand letter, negotiate with the insurance company and advise you whether to settle or go to court.

Also, many insurance companies know if your Florida injury attorney is willing to go to court for you if they do not offer a sufficient sum of money to compensate you fully for your Florida injury. Attorney skill in trial and in a courtroom should be evaluated closely to determine whether the attorney is the right person for you. Most often, a highly skilled Florida injury attorney with a reputation as a skilled trial lawyer will settle more cases at higher amounts than a Florida injury lawyer known to settle many cases without litigation. Willingness to go all the way through trial should be a question every client should ask their Florida injury lawyer before hiring them.

Another consideration is whether the attorney has the necessary resources to advance funds to fight the insurance company. In Florida, injury attorney ability to finance a case varies significantly. Remember, the insurance company has unlimited money to hire the best experts. Ask any Florida injury attorney that you are considering whether he or she is willing to hire experts on your behalf and at what cost.

A further consideration is whether the attorney will handle the case himself or refer it to another lawyer in Florida. Injury attorney experience is that your case may not be handled the same way by trial counsel a year down the road. Unless the case is being referred right away to trial counsel, it is a good idea to highly scrutinize this type of Florida injury lawyer.

An excellent way to find a quality Florida injury attorney is through the internet. Google, Yahoo and other major search engines provide access to numerous sites with extensive information on Florida injury lawyer and attorney qualifications as well as legal and medical information related to Florida injury. Attorney law practices throughout Florida host excellent web sites which can help you sort out the numerous issues that you must deal with to protect your legal rights.

Your chosen Florida injury attorney or lawyer likely has a convenient phone number and e-mail contact form on their site to allow clients to consult with them from anywhere in Florida. Injury attorney trends on the web include instant messaging, text messaging and Skype computer voice contact capability. Whether you find a Florida injury attorney through the internet or other means, there has never been a time when access to legal services has been better. A Florida injury lawyer and attorney is available for free consultation throughout Florida now.
