Criminal Justice Question:
NOTE: Andrea Yates was found guilty of capital murder in March 2002 for the deaths of three of her children. She was not tried for the other two deaths and was sentenced to life in prison with no parole for 40 years.
What other defense might have been used for some of the cases mentioned?

Temporary insanity (can be drug induced like prozac or mental)
Insanity (permanent condition)
Religious beliefs
“Twinkie” defense
Exactly what DID happen in 2005. Her conviction was overturned on appeal. Her defense was insanity and she was deemed NOT GUILTY by reason of insanity.
