John Doe asked:

I will try and make this short. Friday the 13 sept 2002, got drivers license, sept 20, 2002 fender bender. Sept 18 2003 Enlisted in Navy. Lady sues me, mother accepts sapena (sp?) then passes away in a car accident november 2003. She never told me about the lawsuit. 2005 default judgement for $5000. The care i was driving was insured my mother gave me permission to drive it. They suspended my license. Navy’s Civil Servicemans Relief Act will open the default judgement. The reason for the fender bender was a tree was blocking a Yeild sign in a residential neighborhood. Went back next day to take pictures owner cut tree limbs. The lawsuit is for civil damages and the documentation says Statefarm vs Me. What can i do? My anual income is only $25k i cant pay that. How can i fight this? Do i have a case/chance? i just found out about this because my current insurance told me they were dropping my coverage due to a suspended license.
The lawsuit is over 3 years old i dont know if there is a statue of limitations or something like that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
